Spain’s wealthiest individuals continue to consolidate their fortunes, led once again by Amancio Ortega, who tops the latest ranking of the country’s richest figures. Alongside his daughter Sandra Ortega, Rafael del Pino, Juan Roig, and Isak Andic, they form the top five fortunes in Spain, according to Forbes.
In 2024, the combined wealth of Spain’s 100 richest individuals reached €250.4 billion, reflecting a substantial 27.7% increase year-on-year and underscoring the continued strength of the country’s leading business empires.
At the top, Ortega—best known as the majority shareholder of Inditex—has now held the number one position for over a decade. His fortune surged by 46.9% in the past year to a record €120.2 billion, placing him among the ten richest people globally.
Sandra Ortega follows as the second-richest person in Spain and remains the wealthiest woman in the country. Her net worth climbed 46% to €10.4 billion, making her the only ქალი in the top five.
Third place is held by Rafael del Pino, chairman of Ferrovial, whose fortune rose 20% to €7.1 billion. He is followed by Juan Roig, the driving force behind Mercadona, whose wealth jumped 49% to €5.8 billion. Rounding out the top five is Isak Andic, founder of Mango, with €4.5 billion.
This year marks a notable shift in gender representation among Spain’s wealthiest. While only one woman featured in the top ten last year, four now appear. Joining Sandra Ortega are María del Pino, who ranks seventh with €3.2 billion, Hortensia Herrero in eighth place with €3.2 billion, and Sol Daurella, who rounds out the top ten with €3 billion after a 50% increase in wealth.
Elsewhere in the top tier, Juan Carlos Escotet ranks sixth with €4 billion, while Daniel Maté sits in ninth place with €3.1 billion.
One of the most significant jumps this year comes from Vicente Boluda, who surged from 95th to 35th position. His rise is largely attributed to the €800 million acquisition of Smit Lamnalco, transforming his shipping group into the world’s largest tugboat operator.
Among new faces on the list is Jesús Núñez, entering at 23rd with €1.5 billion. The family behind Primafrio Group also debuts, with Juan Ignacio Conesa and José Esteban Conesa appearing in the rankings.
In entertainment, Julio Iglesias remains Spain’s wealthiest musician, with an estimated €750 million fortune, placing him mid-table among the country’s richest.
Geographically, Community of Madrid continues to dominate, with 30 individuals on the list and total wealth of €41.4 billion. Catalonia follows with 26 fortunes, although its total wealth has slightly declined.
However, Galicia stands out for overall wealth concentration, largely driven by the Ortega family. Their combined fortune—around €133 billion—dwarfs the region’s economic output, highlighting the extraordinary scale of their holdings.
Meanwhile, the Valencian Community has seen notable growth, with total wealth rising significantly thanks to gains linked to Boluda’s expansion and Mercadona’s performance.
In sport-related wealth, business figures tied to football remain prominent. Juan Carlos Escotet, also linked to Deportivo de La Coruña, leads in this category, followed by Florentino Pérez—whose leadership has helped Real Madrid become the world’s most valuable club—and Fernando Roig.
Beyond football, tennis legend Rafael Nadal is Spain’s wealthiest athlete, with an estimated net worth of €310 million. Among footballers, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Ramos lead the way, each with around €100 million.
MotoGP star Marc Márquez also stands out, with a fortune nearing €80 million, though he does not feature in the overall top 100.
