The third of Juan Roig and Hortensia Herrero’s four daughters, who have just celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, is behind the rehabilitation of the Valeriola Palace, her mother’s new art museum, and the Roig Arena, her father’s pavilion.

There is great anticipation in Valencia for the opening of the Hortensia Herrero Art Center (CAHH) next Saturday, November 11. The wife of Juan Roig (74) and vice president of Mercadona will be exhibiting her impressive private collection of contemporary art for the first time . Among the works that this 73-year-old Valencian Médici will display are pieces by the Basque artist Eduardo Chillida, the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa , the German artists Andreas Gursky, Anselm Kiefer, and Georg Baselitz, the Indian artist Anish Kapoor , and the English artist Mat Collishaw . And, of course, works by one of the most internationally renowned living Valencian artists: Manolo Valdés. The home for all these pieces will be the Valeriola Palace , located in the heart of Valencia, specifically on Calle del Mar, just a few meters from Plaza de la Reina, where three major landmarks stand: the cathedral, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken, and the Palau de la Generalitat.
